When love hurts and you don't know what to do, we start with your body
I'm Louisa, a somatic guide. I help people hear what they actually feel underneath all the thinking, and get some real emotional relief while they're at it. Most people feel lighter and in less pain, and leave with more clarity on their love situation.
I really didn't know whether to stay or leave my relationship, and I wasn't sure if Focusing would help. So I was amazed at the depth we reached and how safe I felt. The sessions with Louisa showed me how to care for myself, stay true to what I need, and how to communicate that calmly to my partner.Highly recommend for those who are feeling stuck in their love life.

Do any of these sound familiar?
Many of my clients come to me with thoughts like this:
"I don't know if it's him or me."
"We keep having the same argument but it never gets better, I don't know what to do."
"I said I was fine. I wasn't fine, and I have no idea why I said it."
"Everyone says leave. I'm not sure if I want to and I can't explain why."
"Is it anxiety or intuition?
"I'm so tired of thinking about this."
They've analysed it more carefully than anyone but the same things keep coming up
If you're struggling with a relationship, situationship, or breakup, then maybe, like them (and me!), you've found yourself:- Rereading the same texts, looking for what you missed.
- Watching reels and videos at 2am trying to work out what he is, avoidant, wounded, or just not that interested?
- Or wondering if what you're feeling is anxiety or intuition.
- Then asking everyone you trust and getting ten different answers.Underneath it all though, are the questions that never resolve:Is this him, or is this me being too much again? Is this the right relationship for me? Can we find a way to improve things? So you make no decision. Another month goes by. And it gets harder and harder to know what to do, or how to understand it. And the feelings just build.Or maybe it's simpler than that, and heavier. You're hurting, so you end up avoiding things, or distracting yourself from your pain, because it feels too big to look at or process on your own.If any of that rings a bell, I hear you love, You haven't missed something obvious. It's simply that you've taken this as far as thinking can take it. And no one has ever shown you how to actually see and work with all the messages, emotions, and stories your body is carrying.
And that's how I can help you, guiding you within, with my caring, attentive presence and a powerful yet gentle science-backed process. So you can safely access feelings, receive answers, and enjoy emotional healing, self trust and calm. You don't have to work this out on your own.
Why nothing has really helped (and what to do)
Look at some of the thought patterns we run through when we feel anxious (I know, I've been there).Did he mean what he said? What is he thinking? Will he change? Will he come back?Every one of those is a question about someone else's inside. But are different questions underneath, and these you can answer. Often it's the most important thing.
What do you feel, underneath all the wondering about him.
What do you need to feel loved and cared for?
What emotions or old stories are under the surface waiting to be released?
Which parts of you, or old wounds, desperately need attention and are just waiting to be seen.
How can you show those tender places that everything is going to be ok?
What is your body's inner wisdom about the situation?
In our culture we have mostly tuned out those kinds of bodily messages and communication, which then leaves us feeling low level stressed, down, anxious, or just confused, without knowing why or what to do.And you have probably already tried things like gratitude practices, journalling, meditation. Those things can be amazing, but they don't fix everything,People may tell you to sit with your difficult feelings, but if you've ever tried on your own and it either went nowhere or got much worse, then I really relate. The good news is that there is an easier and much more powerful way.
Where we go in session together
There is a place where you can feel something fully and stay next to it, curious. Close enough that deep shifts can happen. Far enough that you stay grounded. This is where things reveal themselves, and insight and emotional healing come from.Helping you find that place in the body is what I do. All you have to do is show up. As a Focusing guide, I guide you deeper, feeling emotionally held, as you explore your inner world.I help you to connect with yourself in new ways, so that your body's needs and wisdom can show up in images, feelings, sensations, that we then communicate with, allowing for positive changes in life and love.Sometimes something is just too big to look at on your own. That is also what I am for. To be there, alongside you, non judgmentally, giving you my full attention, so you can connect and process emotions safely, leaving you feeling lighter and more resilient. One more thing, because it is what some people are wary of. I am not going to tell you whether to stay or go, nor what he "is". What we find might point at him. It might point at something of your own that this relationship has pressed on. Or both. Each is worth knowing, and will be your discovery.Whatever we find, we'll work with to bring you the support, inner clarity, and answers you need.
What happens in a Focusing session with Louisa?
Sixty minutes, online, on video, from wherever you feel comfortable.
Firstly I gently bring you into your body, and we start with whatever is most present.
I guide you further inwards, we get curious about what is there and stay with it, and I am there with you to accompany whatever comes, so it stays gentle and never becomes too much.
I'll ask the right questions to help you compassionately relate to what comes up, and uncover the hidden messages.
The body often speaks to us through images, sensations, emotions and colours, and we work together to hear, understand, and heal.
I guide you back into the present after around 30-40 mins with time for integration, to talk about what you experienced, so the important insights stay with you.
If you want to think out loud with someone at the end, I'm here.
It is also where we can talk properly. If wanted we can draw upon my extensive psychological, spiritual, and wellbeing knowledge. I have spent over twenty years studying people and thousands of hours advising people about their relationships. After a session, people usually feel lighter and relieved, and have more clarity and confidence about their romantic lives.

Can Focusing really help me? What's the evidence?

Can Focusing really help me? What's the evidence?
If you’re asking this, you may be wondering whether something this gentle can truly create change and bring new insights.Consider this question:Why do some people change deeply in therapy while others stay stuck?Psychotherapist Eugene Gendlin reviewed hundreds of hours of therapy to find out. He clearly identified that the people who could connect with their emotions and bodies were significantly more likely to have better outcomes. From there, he developed Focusing.Focusing is now recognised as an evidence-based somatic practice, scientifically shown to:- Support emotional regulation,
- Improve decision-making,
- Reduce anxiety and depression,
- Enhance overall wellbeing. My role as a guide is not to analyse you or force anything. It is to hold an attentive and caring space, and guide your attention towards what your body is already holding. I then help you communicate with the parts of you wanting attention, in a way that feels right for you.
I guide you inside with caring responsive attention and non-judgement
I help you sit with & name what feels subtle, layered, or hard to put into words
I offer gentle suggestions when something needs support or deepening
You leave with clarity that is embodied, integrated, and truly your own
What people say about Focusing with Louisa
It's my honor to creating a safe and inviting space for people to explore their emotions in an embodied way. Here's what people say about their focusing experiences with me.
"I hadn’t experienced Focusing before. As a practitioner of meditation and healing, I was curious to know about it.Louisa was absolutely amazing. I felt very held in the space, very safe, and that I was in good hands. She works as a guide to gently lead you into yourself, helping you explore what you have going on. I didn’t go in with an issue, so I had no idea where it would lead.I found the session particularly good at getting into your ‘blind spots.’ In my own meditations this is not so easy to reach, whereas a Focusing session has you speaking aloud. Having Louisa as a guide really deepens your ability to ‘see’ your stuff and how you react in your life.Very powerful, very helpful, and insightful. I can’t recommend Louisa enough, and this powerful work for those seeking more clarity in their lives."
Sophie L. - Meditation Practitioner
I first came to Louisa because I couldn't work out why I didn't feel good in my relationship. My friends told me that this was the best boyfriend they'd seen me with in a while but something didn't feel right and I couldn't put my finger on it.I became obsessed with attachment style videos, but I still couldn't figure him out.Sessions with Louisa helped me to see how my body felt around him, and in the end this was more important than making sense of his story. This gave me the confidence in myself to break things up with him but I continued Focusing because I feel so much better after a session and my self knowledge is growing.I'm in a new relationship now and I feel more able to trust myself and speak up for my needs and boundaries than before.
Rachel T. - Head of HR
A friend suggested I try some somatic work after I was dealing with a difficult breakup. Therapy had helped me understand a lot of what happened, but I still didn't feel better.I was also dealing with a lot of other things at the same time and I didn't know how to cope with it all. In the past I used to just push things down and get on with it, but I started to feel increasingly overwhelmed.I did many things to heal from my breakup but working with Louisa was a key part of my healing. Our video sessions allowed me to process some of my emotions so that I could heal faster. Doing it by myself initially just felt too much. Like I might never stop crying if I started. But with Louisa I felt safe, and when things came up I could handle them. After several sessions, I can now tune into my body by myself which has been life changing. I book sessions when I need extra support.

Hi, I'm Louisa. 👋
I once dated a man who blamed an argument on an energy vortex under our hotel. I then spent weeks of my life researching what, exactly, he was. Avoidant? Narcissist? Something with a name I hadn't found yet? Here is what I learned after ignoring my body and getting a panic attack when he tried to kiss me. The diagnosis didn't matter. The important thing was noticing how I felt around him. Edgy, tense, my body literally rejecting intimacy while my mind tried to rationalise him.So yeah, I have done the 2am research. More than once. The thing that changed me happened on a counselling course. We were asked to list things that were bothering us, first checking using Focusing. I did it, and afterwards I realised I had answered from my head. So I did it again, from my body. The list was not the same. Not slightly different. Not the same list. MIND. BLOWN.Now my work is sitting with women while they "read" the second list.Afterwards I often see people glow. Lit up from the inside, warmer, more like themselves than they have been in a while. Usually with fresh insight. Something important they now understand about their situation.
Hi, I'm Louisa. 👋

And the deeper part is developing an inner relationship with self-care and love, in a way you can feel in your body. If, like me, you've on a self development journey and wondered exactly what 'doing the work' looks like, this is one powerful way.Why I can help. I am a trained Focusing guide and I love what I do. I hold a Master's in Social Anthropology, which mostly means I am used to taking a person's own way of seeing things seriously rather than swapping it for mine. I have spent around three thousand hours in one to one work, and twenty years listening to women talk about the things they say nowhere else. I don't judge, and I see the nuance in life.
A few things about me, so you know who you're working with:
*Four rescue dogs, with strong opinions about my working hours
I run Dungeons and Dragons games and I'm the one who cries at the character deaths
Love: Qi gong, audiobooks, and dancing madly in my living room
Neurospicy Maths... Empath + HSP + Pisces + ADHD hyperfocus = Focusing Guide superpower (I'm right there with you every step of the way). Too sensitive they said!*
I also love the occasional moon ritual by the beach! 🌙

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this therapy?
No, though it is therapeutic. Focusing came out of psychotherapy research and works well alongside therapy, and also on its own. Some people use it to deepen work they're already doing elsewhere. Others use it by itself.
What if I turn up and don't know what to say?
That's a normal way to arrive and it absolutely fine. We start with whatever is most present, which is often vague at first. Vague is workable. Most of what we look for hasn't been put into words yet, so we look for sensations and go from there.
Is Focusing evidence-based? The science behind the method.
Yes. It was developed from psychotherapy outcome research in the 1960s, when researchers noticed that clients who could connect with their bodily experience were significantly more likely to benefit from therapy. It's now recognised as an evidence-based practice supported by decades of research, including work on emotional regulation, anxiety reduction, relief from depression, improved decision-making and wellbeing.
Does this help if the relationship is already over?
If you're grieving or trying to make sense of things, then Focusing can really help. A lot of people come after it ends, when the grief and the doubt have arrived together and are making each other worse.Being accompanied by a gentle and empathetic focusing guide is a great way to find some relief and start untangling any threads.
Will this work for me?
Focusing works well for most thoughtful, reflective people, especially those open to exploring their emotions. You don’t need to be “good at feeling your body” to benefit. A willingness to slow down and be curious is enough. The most reliable way to know if it’s right for you is to try a session. If it resonates, we continue. If not, you will still leave with greater clarity about what you need next.
Will this fix my relationship/love life?
Focusing isn't a quick fix for a relationship, but it is a powerful way of exploring all the feelings that our body and brain can't connect. And this in turn can give us the keys to improve and change our romantic lives.Even for those of us who feel well attuned with our bodies, love and relationships trigger all kinds of emotions, wounds and fears. And it can be very difficult to see clearly from the inside.Focusing helps you see and understand the things you actually feel, so that making that decision or having that conversation becomes easier.Parts of ourselves may need healing, attention, or reassurance, and Focusing is designed to help us do that in a beautiful way.It also usually brings emotional release and shifts which can help us to deal with grief, anxiety, or process difficult feelings.Focusing can't fix a relationship that isn't right for you but it can give you the tools to figure out what is right for you, change things, and help you feel better and grow. This mixture of inner clarity, a self love practice, and accompanied emotional release gives us nutrients, essential for a good relationship with ourselves and others, and a better love life/relationship.
I've tried feeling my feelings and it made everything worse!
I understand. I tried that alone too, and it was awful. The difference here is that you are not alone with it. We use a process and rhythm that keeps it gentle, and if something comes close to being too much, we step back and find the distance where it is workable.Unlike just 'sitting with the pain' I find that Focusing with a guide is an enjoyable experience, and one that leaves me warm inside, even if deep emotions sometimes come up throughout the process.
